元インテル幹部、詐欺罪で有罪！

Cellular-Newsは、ニューヨーク市の連邦裁判所で、元インテル幹部(Intel executive)のヘッジ・ファンド・マネージャーが、旧友で、中心人物であったラジャ・ラジャラトナム(Raj Rajaratnam)に、コンピュータチップ・メーカーに関して大規模な秘密情報を与えたことに対し、ヘッジファンド・インサイダー取引として詐欺罪を認め、有罪判決が下されたと報告した。

マンハッタン連邦裁判所でラジブ・ゴエル(Rajiv Goel)は裁判官に、
「私は友情のためラジャ・ラジャラトナムに情報を教えました。」
「私は、どれくらい残念であるかを表現できません。」と言った。

カリフォルニア州ロスアラモスに住む51歳のゴエルは、今までのところ、請求されている9番目の被告で、21からの罪を認めた。

彼は2010年5月28日に判決が下されることになった。
その罪は最大20年の収監になるが、司法取引の一部として捜査に協力するのに同意したので、週間年数は減ると予測されている。

検察官は、スリランカ生まれのGalleon Groupヘッジファンドのポートフォリオ・マネージャであったラジャラトナムが、金融会社の幹部社員との内部情報に関与して、会社をだますネットワークを通して最大US$5000万を隠したと起訴されている。

彼は犯罪行為を否定している。

ゴエルは2009年にインテル社を退職するまで、投資で軍備するインテル社のIntel Capitalで戦略的投資ディレクター(director of strategic investments)であった。

彼は、検察官の盗聴で会話が取られ、インテルの投資に関する秘密の詳細情報をラジャラトナムに供給したと訴えられ、2009年10月に共謀と証券詐欺罪で逮捕されした。

ラジャラトナムは、その情報からUS$57万9000の利益を上げたとされていて、個人的な証券口座を通してゴエルに支払いが行われていた。

ゴエルはUS$75万の保釈金で釈放された。
